Author Talk: When Winter Came, by Mary Beth Sartor Obermeyer In-Person
In 1918, the worldwide influenza pandemic engulfed the small town of Titonka, Iowa. Dedicated community physician Dr. Pierre Sartor treated more than 1,100 patients–and by his reckoning, lost only five. His prescription resonates with us in the 21st century era of COVID: wear a mask … practice hygiene and isolation … be kind.
Dr. Sartor’s handwritten memoir of that searing experience, “Thrills of my life,” was discovered decades later by his granddaughter, Mary Beth Sartor Obermeyer, in a lockbox filled with family documents.
Join us for an "Author Talk" to celebrate this facinating book with local ties.
